The dream of Murray's Electronic Information Exchange System (EIES), presented to me in 1974, is becoming a reality in spite of us EIES developers and participants as expressed in our Network Nation revisited presentation. http://docs.google.com/Presentation?docid=dhnbrkcw_1pmtx37&hl=en
Rao and I are promoting the dream as http://eies.org subject to consensus by default. Kenny is resurrecting the history. Murray and Roxanne continue the quest. What are you doing? We share a magnificently great legacy of vision that is becoming reality.
Nobody but a minority of my kids is taking advantage of the eies.org resources. I blame myself for not advertising it effectively. Eies.org provides free dns name services, hosting, and virtual servers to the eies community as far as collective resources are available.
Eies.org has a new home machine in Kinnelon NJ for backups and a third commercial grade server in San Diego (at ComplexDrive?.com). I plan http://elgg.org/ for the new eies.org home page on the new eies.org on the new machine. But I do not feel I have consensus by default unless I express my intention.
I can accept alternatives but not inaction as my resolve to realize eies3, and meet my promises to P+T on resources network database, and Murray's object "collections", is not negotiable.
My vision of the infrastructure of eies3 in collaboration with my son Greg and Rao, on the cloud, currently consists of the eies.org infrastructure plus http://elgg.org/index.php moving onward to application and document management framework design including evaluation of Amazon ec2, Eucalyptus, Erlang, Mnesia, CouchDB, and the Semantic Web on the cloud thus manifest.
The infrastructure is about what I call "Gentleman objects". Objects who's identity is transparent and universal, objects that manage themselves and are enhanced by our personal and group agents to reflect our personal rules of object behavior down to the individual object. It is an extension of what companies call an enterprise service bus, or ESB, with well behaved business objects across the organization, exposed by secured middleware perspectives, applied to the ad hoc groups actually constituting humanity from a personal perspective, empowering the individual and his associated groups, in the spirit of EIES.
The framework still includes a user agent front end or personal agent, the thin client and back end thickening in the cloud to become our intelligent personal agnt, multiple group agent front ends with bank ends to model objects connecting to reliable redundant physical storage on a cloud based back end enforcing lazy transactions.
Presently I am leaning toward an application and document management framework design including Amazon ec2, Goolgle appscale, Eucalyptus, Erlang, Mnesia, CouchDB, and the Semantic Web. There may be better things, but what is available seems sufficient. It is as if what we needed to complete EIES has magically appeared, first class objects on the cloud are no longer a pipe dream."Bingeley bingeley beep!"
